WHY HOPE BLOSSOMS PRESCHOOL?

At Hope Blossoms Preschool, we aim to cultivate good humans by planting seeds of love and creativity.  Our goal is to foster love of self, love of their peers and communal family, and love of all God’s creatures and our planet while preparing them for Kindergarten.  Through love, hope blossoms.  With a solid foundation of love and support they’ll go into the world as Hope Blossoms.

Serving mixed age children 3-5.  Must be 3 by September 1st.  Potty trained is not a requirement to enter the program.

Character matters.

According to Nobel Prize Winner (2000) James Heckman, research shows that  character
skills acquired very early in life and strengthened throughout life are more important to a successful future than purely cognitive skills.

Our curriculum focuses on supporting the whole child, because we know that success isn’t only about making progress in math and literacy. By equally focusing on social-emotional development, we can help children to successfully manage their emotions, build relationships with other children, feel safe, and learn classroom rules and routines.

Fun fact:

90% of the brain develops before age 5:

  • The brain is most flexible and adaptable to learning during the earliest years, and as the brain matures, it is less capable of reorganizing and adapting to new or unexpected challenges.

  • Children only get one chance at learning the fundamentals. Every child deserves an equal opportunity to a quality educational foundation that will prepare them to grow, learn, and succeed in education, society, and life.

  • Research shows an undeniably strong connection between early relationships in school and later behavior and learning.

  • Supporting the social-emotional development of children at the beginning of the year—and all year long—builds a solid foundation for the future.

Meet the Director

My name is Dana Barber Lowe and am excited to be a part of St. Paul’s UCC growth and outlook for the future. I most recently was Directing at the Fox Valley Family YMCA Early Learning Academy. I was approaching my 12th year leading a team of amazing Birth to Five teachers and support staff. When I was hired in 2012, the child care had only been open for 5 years and I was hired in hopes of growing the program that was not thriving. Although it took some time to develop and train staff, build relationships with parents and the community, and tighten up all loose ends, after 2 years, the program was reputable in the community.

Serving the community needs in both Kendall and DeKalb County has allowed me to work closely with community partners in developing strong relationships with a goal of “shared services” at the forefront. But as anyone with children understands, my biggest accomplishment is my three amazing children.

I firmly believe in the transformative power of collaboration and teamwork, and I am enthusiastic about the prospect of leveraging my skills to make a meaningful impact within this vibrant committee, congregation, and community.
